Once Upon A Song

Tonight Berkley had her Musical Theatre recital.  For the past 2 weeks, she has been participating in Miss Jenee's summer workshop.  She went Monday-Friday for an hour and fifteen minutes.  This is her very favorite thing that she participates in. Here she is singing, "Do You Want To Read A Story."
It is hard to believe that these girls can memorize all the words and moves to the songs in such a short time.
There is always a move with a partner in Miss Jenee's workshops.  So cute!
Did you know that sticking your tongue out while singing helps you perform better?
Oh how I love this recital!
 Too cute!
 You sing it Miss B.!
Once Upon A Song was a great show.
Miss Jenee has the best personality and the most amazing voice! Berkley thinks she is the most amazing thing ever!

Seven

Ledger and I ALMOST shared the same birthday.  He was 10 days late and my doctor decided to induce me…on June 25th.  Luckily she didn't have me go into the hospital until 9:00 at night on my 33rd birthday and about 20 hours later, Ledger arrived…HUGE, HAIRY and super SNUGGLY! Today my baby boy is 7 years old.  He is smart, strong willed and had the yummiest checks you can imagine!
For his 7th birthday, Ledger chose 15 friends to go bowling.  Being that his birthday is in the middle of summer, only about half of his friends were able to come.  Brody strapped his Go Po camera on Ledger's head so that he could capture the party.
Between bowls, Berkley and I practiced flipping. There's that new hair of mine!
Ledger and his birthday friends.  Case, Brody, Ledger, Connor Jones, Alex Otten, Cameron Garrison, Keegan and Ethan Greene.
Ledger chose the OLD (but nice) bowling alley on Gilbert and Southern because he wanted the "Cosmic Bowl."  The lights were off and the music was loud.  The boys were having a great time until the song, "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen came on.  They all freaked out and covered their ears until it was over.  On the other hand, Miss B. and I sang LOUD!
Ledger chose Krispy Kreme for his birthday treat.  The kid is like his mom, he LOVES the chocolate iced glazed doughnuts.
Ledger opening presents from his friends.
And of course there are the 7 one dollar bills from GG and GPA.

Swim Banquet 2014

Tonight was the swim banquet.  This is always a fun night for my kids because they all get a trophy for participating in the summer swim program. Here are a few of the 6 and under swimmers.
 The 9 and 10 swimmers.
 11 and up swimmers
Berkley received a trophy tonight for the "Most Improved" swimmer.  Apparently when you swim as a three year old and swim a 25 in 2 plus minutes and then swim as a 4 year old and make it under a minute, you are the most improved for your age group.:)
Ledger and Case received an award tonight for "Most Outstanding Swimmer."
Brody one the biggest award of the night tonight.  He won the "Scarborough Award." This award is given in memory of a family who looooong ago swam on the team.  The parents of the swimmers went on a vacation and the plane they were traveling in crashed.  The parents both died but the kids kept swimming on the team and were able to push through this horrible tragedy.  This is the most honorable award because it is based on attendance, sportsmanship, respect for the coaches and team mates and just overall love for the sport. Brody was so happy to win this award because it is the one everyone wants to win.
Brody and the other top award winners.  So proud of you Brody!
My gang had a great summer swim season.  They all made great progress and had a ton of fun.
We love you swimmers! So proud of you all!

The Big 4-0

I'm not gonna mention any names, but someone in our house turned the big 4-0 today.  And because the spouse of this someone was worried about the well being of this oldie, he spoiled her rotten.  The celebration actually started last Friday night with dinner at Ocean Club, a movie at the IPic and then a night at the Westin Kierland.
And then on the morning of June 25th, the spouse of this someone took the day off of work and sent her and her mom to the Spa at Talking Stick, then shopping at Nordstroms, and then to Chrissy's for the most amazing hair extensions. When I arrived, this is what was waiting for me.  Balloons everywhere, a poster with my kids handprints and...
2 dozen Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcakes!  Delicious!
Because we had the swim banquet tonight, I met Jeremy and the kids at Mesa Country Club with my new hair and relaxed self.  After the banquet dinner and trophies, we headed out to the pool where this delicious raspberry cake from Sweet Tooth Fairy was waiting for me….and all the other friends and family who wanted some.  I feel very lucky to have had such a great 40th birthday.  I think Jeremy was concerned about my well being because I have been in denial about this big birthday.  As dumb as this sounds, I have cried and pouted and cried some more.  This has been a doosey for me.  I have been thinking about my dad A LOT lately.  He was 50 when he died.  50!  I am 40 today.  He lived only 10 years longer then where I am right now.  That scares me! And for all you young spring chickens out there…it's true what they say.  Suddenly I can't see a thing, my varicose veins that I acquired when I got pregnant with Miss B. are KILLING me, every wrinkle on my face has decided to manifest itself, and every time I eat anything…it sticks!  I am bound and determined t make my 40's a decade of working out and taking care of me.  Now if I could just get my kids on board with that!

Swimming Championships

Tonight we celebrated the last night of the swim season at Moon Valley Country Club for the swimming championships.  Each boy got to choose 2 swims along with the 100 IM to swim.  Case takes this night VERY serious.  His competition this year is Benny Coury and Frank Lomax.  Both boys are REALLY good swimmers and give Case a run for his money!
Case chose to swim Butterfly and Backstroke tonight.  He swam backstroke with a time of 19:49 and placed 2nd overall. His butterfly race ALMOST broke a club record with a time of 16:83.  He placed 1st in butterfly overall.
GO CASE GO!!
That's Ledger in the green goggles.  Ledger swam his freestyle race tonight with a time of 23:48 and placed 3rd overall.  He also swam butterfly tonight with a time of 29.44 and place 3rd overall.
Brody swam butterfly and backstroke tonight.
Brody is a great backstroker! He swam a 50 backstroke tonight with a time of 42:14.  He placed 2nd overall for the 11 year old boys. He also swam a 50 butterfly with a time of 41:95.  In his 100 IM he swam a 1:35.49 and place 5th overall.
Berkley didn't get to swim tonight because she had a fever last night and didn't get to attend the qualifying meet last night.  Her cute new friend Finley got to swim tonight and medaled!
Ledger earned three medals in the championships between tonight and last night.  He was so happy!
Brody also medaled in all 3 of his events!
Case also medaled in all 3 of his events!
These 4 swimmers had a great season this year.  It went so fast and I am always so sad when it's over.
Love that coach Katie still loves Miss B. even though she coaches at AZCC now.  We miss her terribly!

Qualifying Night Of Swim Championships

Tonight we headed over to Moon Valley Country Club for swimming qualifying championships.  Each of my kids (minus Berkley who had a fever), qualified to come back tomorrow.  The highlight of the night however was the coaches and parent relays.
Coach Kelsey swam backstroke for our team.
She held her own against the men coaches.
Coach Williams is a new coach this year.
He swam breaststroke tonight and did great.
 Coach Brian swam butterfly tonight.
Check out his completly horizontal dive!
Coach Brian is an amazing butter flyer!
Our mom team rocked tonight.  Hooray for Jody, Jackie, Taylor and Tatum!
And our dad team ruled tonight! Great job Kyle, Jimmy, and Jer!
