St. Patrick's Day at Cubs Park

 Happy first official day of spring break!

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we threw on our green clothes and headed over to Cubs Park for a spring training game.  This was the first time we had been inside the new spring training stadium and it was nice.  

 We had the perfect seats and the weather was perfect.

 Since Jeremy volunteers for the Ho Ho Kams, we were able to spend a few minutes with him before he had to go back to work.

 After about the 6th inning, we had had enough so we left and headed over to the new park at the stadium.  This park is so much fun!  The kids played for a couple hours on this crazy climbing thing and the splash pad. Can you see any of my kids?

 For a minute, I thought Ledger was stuck up there.  He kinda walked in circles for about 10 minutes in the same spot.

Did I mention that the park has a zip line?

2 Steelers

 Every Saturday morning we get up at 6:00 and head over to Williams Field and Lindsay for flag football games.  Both Case and Ledger are playing this season and are both on the Steelers team.  Ledger has become quite the flag football player this season.  He makes touchdowns every game along with pick 6's and interceptions.  It has been so fun watching him this winter season.

 In case you can't tell by the size difference, Case is playing on the 9-11 team this season.  Although he is one of the youngest on the team, he is still pulling flags and making big plays.

 This boy lives for Saturday morning games.  He is all about flag football right now.

 Can you even imagine what these two boys are talking about as they walk off the field? Nothing like playing flag football with your best friend every week!

This boy is a determined player. I love that this makes him happy and that he is good at it.  

Way to go Steelers!

First Grade Track and Field

 Today it was Ledger's turn for track and field.  This boy could hardly wait another minute after seeing both Brody and Case have their track and field yesterday.  

 The water race was the first event of the day. Nothing like getting soaked on a warm spring afternoon.

 Oh look!  Ledger with a ball in his hands.  This boy sleeps with some type of ball every night.

 Don't worry Ledger, I won't tell anyone that the Mom's beat the first grade class at tug-of-war!

The obstacle course is so funny to watch...especially with these little first graders.  

I love that I don't have to work right now and that I am able to help out at school functions like track and field.  Happy 16th anniversary to me!

Third Grade Track and Field

 After spending the morning helping at 5th grade track and field, I got to help Case's 3rd grade class at their track and field.  Case has a cute class and some great friends.  Tug of war was a huge hit with the 3rd graders today.

 Water relay was super fun!

 The 50 yard dash was fun but the competition was stiff.  Case...is that a girl that is about to beat you?:)

 Case and his friend Quinn are not in the same class this year but they are still super good friends.  He is a nice boy.

Fifth Grade Track and Field

 This morning I was able to help with Brody's class for track and field.

 The obstacle course was super fun.

 Brody did great at the high jump...

and the long jump.  

 The water relay had to be the best event at track and field.  You should have seen these 5th graders.  They did boys against girls and it was hilarious!  These kids would get to the bucket to soak their sponge and they would spend minutes splashing and drenching each other.  It was innocent flirting at its best!

Flight Simulator Field Trip

 Today Brody's class headed over to Salk Elementary for a field trip to the flight silmuator. I was lucky enough to be chosen as a parent helper so I got to go too.

 Boeing is one of the sponsors for this field trip.  It is very well organized and informative.

 One of the things the kids had to do was different flight experiments.  They then had to record their results.

 Paper airplane making was one of the experiments and it was a huge hit.

On this airplane simulator, the kids could choose where they wanted to go.  Brody chose the Eiffel Tower.

Although this field trip was fun and informative, I think most of the kids would have rather gone somewhere that they could have run and played a little more.  

Basketball

 Saturday's around here are jammed packed with sports.  Every Saturday morning, we head out to flag football games for Case and Ledger.  Somewhere in there, Jeremy or I leave with Brody to watch him play basketball.  

 Larry Woods is Brody's coach and he couldn't be more perfect for Brody.  Although Brody's team hasn't won a game all season, they are having fun and learning the game.

 Brody had a great season.  He has gotten more aggressive and seems to understand the game more this year.  He made some awesome baskets that surprised even him.
