Cool Summer Fun!

I love the cabin.  When I get here, I don't want to leave. I love the laziness of the cool mountain air.  I love the afternoon thunderstorms.  I love not having to make beds, do laundry, pick up after kids.  I love playing on the zip line at the club house after having lunch on the patio.  I love fishing at the lake and watching the boys play on the quads in the backyard.  I love that I actually get to work on projects such as sewing and primary lessons. I wish I could live here all the time, but since I can't I thought you might like to see a little of what we did last week when we were there.
Miss B. loved going on quad rides with Brody.
Who says 9 month olds can't have a little fun with their brothers?
Case, Brody and Miss B. racing on the quads.
Hey Ash!  Can you guess who did Miss B.'s hair? I'll give you a hint...someone who loves her colorful clippies!
Ledger thought he was big time taking Berkley for rides in the Jeep! Miss B. thought she was pretty cool too! Is it just me or does she look huge in these pictures?  She is growing up way too fast!

Sew Cute!

Last week when I celebrated my 26th, oh I mean 36th birthday, I received a brand spankin' new Brother Sewing Machine from Jeremy and my Mom.  The thing is so high tech (we're talking a computer system and embroidery module) that I had to take a whole day class just to learn how to thread the thing!  So with a little free time at the cabin this weekend, I made this cute little dress for my Pretty In Pink.  Of course I needed my Mom holding my hand for each and every step, but I did it!  It was fairly easy and quick, which is just the kind of projects I like! I think it turned out great. Stay tuned for pictures of the dress on my Little Lady.   Up next, a multi fabric skirt, perfect for the hot weather I'm about to go home to.

Last week the boys finished up their summer swim season with an awards banquet and dinner.  While I was happy that it was finished, I was a little sad thinking about it being Coach Jeff''s last summer with the kids.  Coach Jeff was the swim coach back when Jeremy and I were on swim team.  He is really good as a coach.  He is super patient and really wants the kids to succeed.  He loves swimming and it shows in his coaching.  I will really miss him and his dedication.

So we arrive to the clubhouse for the banquet and the waitress comes to our table and asks the kids and I if we want something to drink.  I repeat the question to the boys who all respond, "Root beer!"  The waitress then says to me, "You know, Root beer has caffeine in it so I would really recommend something such as Sprite or Lemonade." Taken back by her response, I say, "Oooo-K, I guess they'll have Sprite." Weird but whatever! The banquet went great.  The boys each received participation trophy and Case even received a "Most Improved" swimmer trophy.  After the banquet, we threw on our suits and headed over to the pool for a night of swimming and fun.  It was the perfect way to end the 2010 summer swim season.

Brody and Case loved wrestling all over the putting green.

Happy 4th Of July to all of you out there.  We spent the day enjoying the cool weather in Pinetop.  It is so pretty here!  I really wish I could spend the next 6 weeks here.  I don't want to come home.  As usual, we went to White Mountain Country Club for the carnival and BBQ dinner.  The boys enjoyed old fashioned games such as the dunk tank, milk bottle toss, treasure chest, tattoos, and basketball.  I enjoyed hanging out on the putting green with my little family watching them run (and crawl) all over the place.  The weather was beautiful and I felt happy and relaxed watching everyone.  I thought of my Dad and how we used to celebrate his 4th of July birthday at Mission Beach.  He would have been 62 today.  I sure do miss him. I wonder if we would still be celebrating this fun holiday in San Diego or here in Pinetop.  I wonder if he would still be farming or if he would have settled into a little retirement.  I wonder what he would think of my kids, and me.  I wonder if his hair would be fully gray by now and what his body stature would look like. I wonder and miss him!

So cute!

I love the Fourth of July.  I love the red, white and blue, the patriotism, the summer coolness of the mountains, the calmness of this holiday.  It's one of my favorites.  I love living in this country and seeing the possibilities that my kids have because we live here.  I am lucky I was born in the USA.  I am lucky!  Happy 4th to all of you and your families. Sorry about all the pictures but I just couldn't pick 1 or 2 of my favorites.  Like I said, I love this holiday!

NAUGHTY is my middle name!

Yesterday, my sweet, darling 9 month old cutie got herself into a bit of a mess!  She dumped a WHOLE bottle of Liquid Tide With Beach (the best detergent for getting out ANY stain!) on the laundry room floor.  When the lid flew off and dumped everywhere, she got scared and tried to crawl away and find me.  As we all know, liquid Tide is extremely slippery when spilled!  She slipped, hit her head and then crawled in place as fast as her little knees and hands could go. Of course I left her treadding in her mess for a minute or two so I could grab my camera and get a shot or two. After a quick bath and a few beach towels to clean up the mess, we were off to summer school with Ledger. Would you believe me if I told you my boys never did anything like this...EVER!  Oh am I in trouble!

I'm a naughty monkey!
