It's that time of year again. These two boys have been at Cub Scout day camp for the past 3 days. With an excessive heat advisory, I really don't know how they are holding up in 110 degree weather in the middle of the desert. I guess all that frozen Gatorade and water have helped.
This was Case's first year to go to day camp. He was both excited and nervous about the experience. He was excited to do "guy stuff" but nervous about the possibility of snakes, coyotes and scorpions. I was nervous about him being away all day and night along with the excessive heat. This boy gets tired and when he does, he goes fast. He did great though. The first night he came home, he was a filthy exhausted mess. He was happy but ready for bed. The second night he staggered in and threw up. I was worried that he may have been dehydrated but then he told me he ate a box of Sour Patch Kids on the way home. His little tummy just can't handle junk. After a good night sleep, he was good to go. Luckily Jeremy was able to attend both Friday and Saturday with each of the boys. That always makes me feel better about the whole experience. Although Jeremy threw up all Saturday night and part of Sunday, I think he will go back to day camp next year. Case looooved his 3 days at day camp. He is now wanting to take archery lessons because of his experience there. He is saving his money for a bow and arrow and asking Jeremy to bring some bales of hay home for him to practice with. I love that Case can finally participate in Cub Scouts. It will be the perfect learning experience for him.
Kaden, Brody, McKay and Case
We only have 6 cub scouts in our ward. The one that is Brody's age will be moving soon and Case is the only one his age. Within the next year, if no one else moves in, there could be only 3 boys total. 2 are mine. This is so frustrating and sad for us. These boys love to be around other boys and there just aren't any around here. If they were girls, they would be in heaven in this ward. It's a total bummer.
