"We're Goin To The Zoo Zoo Zoo..."

...How about you you you?" (I know your singing with me Jody!)
Today I had the opportunity to go to the Phoenix Zoo with Case and his first grade class. I always love attending field trips with my kiddos. It's fun to watch them interact with their friends and see what they are like in social settings. Case chose Lucy to be his partner today. When I asked him about it, he told me that she was the only person left to pick from. Hmmmmm...I doubt it Case since she is the most darling girl ever! Case, Lucy and I had a great time walking around the zoo in the windy cold weather. We especially loved that Jefferson, Libby, Elle and Sara were with us too. I'm so happy I was able to go even though I think I may have a fear of riding on buses. I have decided that school buses cannot possibly be safe with all of us bopping around inside without seat belts. It's just a weird feeling to be in a vehicle so BIG and not have a seat belt on. Does anyone know why you don't wear seat belts when on buses? Just curious.
We hung with these cute kiddos all day.
Quinlin, Max, Jefferson, Case, Katie, Lucy, Elle and can't remember this cute girls name...oops.
Case chose the orangutan as his animal to learn about today at the zoo. The new orangutan exhibit is amazing. It was fun to learn all about this extremely human like animal.

It's too HOT!

This kid is a mess these days.
He is my kid who needs to be outside.
He needs to ride his bike for hours after school.
This boy needs the trampoline and swing set.
He needs the neighborhood friends to play with.
He needs free time, time to unwind.
He needs hugs when no one is looking and hours of tickle torture.
He needs to know how smart he is.
He needs to PLAY!
He needs to run and jump and be a boy.

And guess what folks...when it's 114 degrees outside, it makes it hard to do any of this. This boy is struggling with what to do after school. It's too hot. Recess is being cancelled because of excessive heat warnings. He has been cooped up all day. Sitting in a classroom learning to behave. He gets off the bus and falls apart. It's ugly and difficult for all of us. Anytime the weather wants to cool down would be good for me...and Case.

Back to school date #1

Today I took Case on a back to school date, although he said if I called it a date one more time, he wouldn't go! First stop was the mall for a new outfit for the first day of school. They had so many cute things it was hard to decide. Case was more excited about the mirror in the dressing room that looked like there were a hundred arms and legs, then anything else at the mall. While we were checking out, I quietly mentioned to Case that we should grab some new under ware since he seems to be growing out of his. Bad idea. He went absolutely CRAZY, like red in the face, hysterically laughing with embarrassment. He hid under the racks of clothes and refused to even look at the cool boxer briefs that he likes. I finally convinced him to come out and that we could walk over to Gap Kids to look. He way dyyiinngg! I dragged him to Gap Kids, forced him to pick some out, and away we went, laughing and giggling! I'm not kidding when I say that just mentioning the word under ware makes this kid laugh. He is too funny! After the mall, we headed over to Baskin Robbins, aka 31 Flavors, for some ice cream. This was a first for Case which made me kinda laugh. Growing up, 31 Flavors was a once a week thing. Now it's Cold Stone or Golden Spoon. Case was loving being able to try all the flavors. He went with a simple chocolate vanilla mix called World Class Chocolate in a waffle cone. Delicious! Up next...Staples for school supplies. We usually do the Target thing but decided to try something different this year. Staples had great stuff and Case got all he needed, and more. I really can't believe this kid is going to be in First Grade this year. I am excited and nervous for him. I loved spending one on one time with Case today. He is a fun kid to hang out with. From now on when I need to cheer him up, I'm just gonna mention the word "under ware" and see what happens. Under ware! Under ware! Under ware!
No need for this kid to try on anything. He is a perfect size 6 with a size 11 1/2 shoe. Stop back by the blog on Wednesday to see what he picked out for his first day of school outfit. I'll give you a hint, it will be awesome and bright!
It's almost time for first grade cute Case. How lucky is your teacher?
