Another Cub Scout requirement is, "make a birdhouse." We had tried to do this earlier in the week at the rec hall, but they didn't have enough wood for all 8 kids. We ended up having the wood cut and did them at the cabin. They weren't hard to make, but doing it with 3 kids was tricky. Luckily there were others to help me. We had made bird feeders last week and the kids were anxious to make bird houses to go with them. They actually turned out really cute. The kids did a nice job.
Case and I actually made his birdhouse backwards and ended up having to take it apart and re do it. Oops!!
Brody is probably the most impatient of all the kids when it comes to projects like this. He wants to be the first one done and he wants it to be perfect. Sorry Brody...there's one mom and 3 kids trying to hammer nails into wood!
After the birdhouses were put together, we let the kids paint them. it was fun to see how each house was so different and colorful. Ledger's favorite color is green so his whole house was painted green.
We made the kids wear paper sacks over their clothes so they wouldn't get paint all over. Good thing! There was still paint all over even with the sacks on them.
Case made his birdhouse all colorful. It turned out super cute!
In the middle of us making birdhouses, it started raining. So fun to be outside making stuff with the kids and the rain!
Brody's birdhouse is a masterpiece of light blue and dark blue stripes. It is awesome!
Here they are...the completed birdhouses. Ledger's is the second from the left, Case's is the third from the left and Brody's the fourth from the left. So fun!
