We made it through another year of school…WHEWWWW! There were times when I was unsure we could make it, but we trudged through and did it!
I have been counting down the days that this boy would finish 1st grade. Let's just say I am so so happy it is over! This boy is so amazing and smart. He made some really great friends this year and loved school. He received awards today for: "A's" in spelling, "A's" is in reading, "A's" in math, minus zero in addition and math facts, spelling wizard, 100% homework for the year, outstanding achievement in phonograms, the friendly frog award, reading award, and straight "A's" all year. Can't wait for this boy to go to second grade! From what we hear, all the second grade teachers are awesome! HOORAY! Today after school, each of the boys had friends over to play. Ledger had Cameron and Jack over. These 3 boys are so cute. They get along great and play nicely with each other. After they left this afternoon, Ledger was on the grass out front crying his little eyes out. Both boys are going to different schools next year. Both of their families have moved and need a school closer to their new houses. It made me sad for Ledger. Friends are so important now and down the road. Hopefully next year will bring new friends for Ledger.
Third grade is over! Case did great this year and is so looking forward to fourth grade. Again, we hear that the fourth grade teachers are all pretty amazing! Case's teacher finished her last year of teaching this year and is having her 5th baby next week. Enough said! Case made some new friends this year and loved recess and P.E. more then anything else this year.:) As he finishes third grade, he is so upset that one of his best friends, Chandler, is being home schooled next year. I have to say that when I found this out, I too was sad. Case and Chandler became good friends last year and they are great together. They are both nice boys. I feel bad for Case that Chandler is not going to his school next year. Hopefully we can get them together to play so they can remain good friends.
Brody, Brody, Brody. What a great year this boy has had. I have LOVED Brody's teacher this year. She was so fun and sweet. She was the perfect mix of structure and fun for Brody. Brody has made great progress this year. He has struggled a little socially and with making friends. He tends to get along better with the girls in his class simply because they are so much calmer and nicer. We have found out this year that 5th grade boys are pretty outspoken, aggressive and GIRL CRAZY! I am shocked by what he comes home telling me about his friends and their girl crushes. Brody isn't there yet and I am grateful. Maybe he is but he is more mature about it? I'm not sure. This year, Brody attended the "Father/Son night" and was shocked by what he learned there. Jeremy and I have had little conversations with him here and there about maturing and such, but still need to dive into the birds and the bees talk that all his other friends have gotten from their parents. Wish us luck.!:) I am so worried about 6th grade for this boy. There is one teacher in particular that I don't want him to get. Fingers crossed! And then there is junior high the following year! YIKES!
This has not been our most favorite year at Franklin. Although my two younger boys learned a ton, the learning environment was not what I had hoped for. I am praying that next year will be like last year: fun, positive and full of learning and growing.
I am so ready for summer. My hope is that we can work on chores and getting along. I hope we can visit some fun museums and play with friends. I hope we can relax at home and focus on time together. Hooray for summer!
What is it with 5th grade boys? This boy has changed so much this year. He has gotten sassy and a little disrespectful. He has struggled with himself as he still has to follow the house rules yet wants to make his own. He is wanting more time with friends. This is hard for me because I am not ready to let him go. Our lives are so busy that when there is down time, I want my kids home with me, not with friends, not at friends houses. I am a nester, a bit of a control freak. I find myself not allowing my kids to grow. Often I feel like I am holding them back. I realize that part of this is my struggle with society and all that their friends are doing. Parents allow their kids to do so many things and I don't. I wonder often if this will hurt them down the road. My hope is that what I am doing now will be good for each of these kids down the road. Only time will tell. For now, I am excited to have this boy home for the summer. I hope that I can spend some quality time with him and get him to relax and enjoy life a little more.
