Flight Simulator Field Trip

Today Brody's class headed over to Salk Elementary for a field trip to the flight silmuator. I was lucky enough to be chosen as a parent helper so I got to go too.
Boeing is one of the sponsors for this field trip.  It is very well organized and informative.
One of the things the kids had to do was different flight experiments.  They then had to record their results.
Paper airplane making was one of the experiments and it was a huge hit.
On this airplane simulator, the kids could choose where they wanted to go.  Brody chose the Eiffel Tower.
Although this field trip was fun and informative, I think most of the kids would have rather gone somewhere that they could have run and played a little more.

Basketball

Saturday's around here are jammed packed with sports.  Every Saturday morning, we head out to flag football games for Case and Ledger.  Somewhere in there, Jeremy or I leave with Brody to watch him play basketball.
Larry Woods is Brody's coach and he couldn't be more perfect for Brody.  Although Brody's team hasn't won a game all season, they are having fun and learning the game.
Brody had a great season.  He has gotten more aggressive and seems to understand the game more this year.  He made some awesome baskets that surprised even him.
How fun for Brody and Drew to be on the same team with Drew's grandpa coaching.

Super Star

This week, Berkley was the Super Star of her preschool class.  She was so excited she could hardly stand it. On Thursday, our family was able to visit her preschool to meet her friends and see her classroom.
My boys love Miss Jody's preschool and begged to go on the super star visit.  Since I work at the preschool on Thursday's, my mom was kind enough to go pick the boys up from school and bring them.  While we were there, Berkley introduced all her friends to us.  She then had Case share her "All About Me" paper.  We all told one thing special about our super star, and then we took a tour of the preschool.
She chose Brody to read a story called, "Best Friends."
This girl is so loved.  We seriously cannot get enough of this little lady!
Miss Jody is the best!  I am so lucky to have had all 4 of my kids be able to attend her awesome preschool.
Jordan, Jim and Miss B. getting silly!
Is this the last super star poster I will be making for a preschooler?  Boo Hoo!

Gilbert Temple

This afternoon Jeremy and I took our kids to the Gilbert Temple.  I was so excited for them to be able to go inside and see it's beauty.  As we stepped out of the car,  Case looked up at me and said,
"I Feel Like The Luckiest Kid!"  He was right, things like this don't happen very often.  This really was a once in a lifetime opportunity.  As we walked inside and saw the amazing construction and interior design, I couldn't help but think how amazing temples are.  Everything about them is truly amazing.  From their natural beauty to the ordinances that are performed there, they truly are a special and sacred place.  I am so grateful that my kids were able to attend the temple.  They are the luckiest kids around.

Star Student

Guess who finally got chosen as the Star Student of his first grade class? This boy has patiently waited for his name to be drawn so that he could be the Star Student.  Jeremy and I on the other hand, we were beyond worried about this happening.  At the beginning of the year, Ledger's friend was chosen to be the Star Student.  She then picked Ledger to be the boy line leader for the week.  Although a privilege, Ledger got benched from all recesses by the second day for not holding the door for his teacher.  I was sick thinking about Ledger sitting against the wall for EVERY recess for not holding the door for his teacher the correct way.  Jeremy sent the teacher and email asking her to please NEVER allow Ledger to have the job again.  It wasn't worth it to us thinking that he could be benched again for not doing a privilege the correct way.  So you can imagine when it came time for Ledger to be the Star Student, we were once again worried about Ledger messing up some dumb rule the teacher has set.  He and Jeremy happily made a Star Student poster.  It turned our so cute.  We prepped Ledger day after day about his Star Student jobs.  Luckily we all made it through the week without any major problems and Ledger loved his week as Star Student. Guess what Ledger Felstead, I think you are a star student every day!
