Father's Day At The Biltmore

 For Father's Day this year, we took Jeremy to the Biltmore.  Not only did we go, but so did H.C. and Nicole, Kim and Paul, Erika and Frank, Karla and Christian, Jim and my mom and all our kids.  The adventure started Friday night with dinner at Lucilles.  After dinner we all headed over to the Biltmore. We checked into our room and headed out to the pool.  It was movie night at the pool so as the dad's and kids swam, the rest of us laid on the lounge chairs and watched Despicable ME. After the movie, we headed back to our room and went to bed.  The next morning, after breakfast, we headed to the pool for a day of swimming, sliding and laughing in the sun.

 The best part about the slide... there were no rules.  It was hilarious watching "GROUPS" of kids come down the slide at one time. Here is Case, Miss B. ad Brody.

 My mom rented these 3 gazebos next to the pool and they were awesome!  Each gazebo had a bathroom in it, a tv, and misters.  They were perfect for the long day at the pool.

Brody about had a heart attack when he saw this HUGE chess set in the grass outside the pool.  Guess what he wants for Christmas now?

We had a great Father's Day this year.  We may make this a tradition every year!

Breaststroke, Freestyle and Double Free Swim Meet

Last night was our home swim meet.  This meet is always a favorite because family and friends are able to come and because we don't have to drive 30-40 minutes to get to the meet.  Last night the kids all got to swim in the freestyle relay and individual breaststroke. Brody also got to swim the double free.  

 First up....Miss B. in the freestyle relay.  Like any good swimmer knows, it is important to stretch before the big race.

 Because there only 3 six and under girls, one of the girls, had to swim twice.  I always feel so bad because you have a 3 year old swimmer like Miss B. and then you have a 5 year old swimmer (who is really good) like Brielle swimming  on the same relay.

 Case is just a torpedo in the water.  Because of his competitive nature, he really puts on a show.

 Brody is doing great at swimming.  He is swimming against BIG, strong, boys this year.  His races are tough!

 The best part about Miss B. swimming this season was that she was happy no matter what color her ribbon was.  She just loves swimming!

 Case ended up medeling tonight for his individual race.  Way to go Case!

 That's Brody in the last lane.  He swims against Max Wilson who swims MAC year round.  This is a fast heat of boys.

 After all the races tonight, the 10 year olds swam the double freestyle.  

 Brody wasn't feeling very confident about his flip turn so he opted to just touch the wall and turn. He did great tonight.  He gets better every week.

So proud of my little swimmers.  They all did great tonight and had a fun time.  After the meet we headed over to El Charro with the Ottens for bean burros and salsa.  The perfect way to end the night!

Another Bobcat Sighting

 Last night, Case received his Cub Scout Bobcat award.  He actually finished his requirements for this in May but the BSA was having some computer issues and didn't have record of Case as a registered Scout.  Because of this, he was unable to receive his award until tonight.  The Bobcat award is aways fun because the boys get to get their face painted by their parent and then the boy gets to paint the parents face. Each symbol and color on the face represents something different the boy will learn on his journey through the scouting program.  Case was thrilled with this recognition.  He also enjoyed helping his den with the skit tonight.  Along with his Bobcat, Case also received belt loops and pins in baseball, basketball, golf, swimming, tennis, kickball, archery, bb gun, and art.  Case loves being in Cub Scouts and is already working hard on his Wolf badge.  Hopefully while we are at the cabin we can complete that so we can start working on arrow points and belt loops.

 We left the face painting to the architect dad.

 When does an 8 year old get to paint his dad's face?  Only in Cub Scouts!

 I think Case liked painting my face the best.  What boy wouldn't love painting his moms face?

Case is loving all his new friends from the Preston and Mountain Vista Wards.  If we could just get a few more boys in our own ward that are his age, it would be great!

Freestyle/Backstroke Swim Meet

  

 On Thursday night, we had our first swim meet at Phoenix Country Club.  Because Brody and Case were at Cub Scout Day Camp, only Ledger and Miss B. swam.  It was actually kinda nice because we were able to leave after the 6 and unders. First up....freestyle.  As you can see, Miss B. has really made improvements on her dive.  

 For some weird reason, she was in the 3rd heat tonight out of like 15.  It was hilarious because in the 3rd heat, the  girls are pretty dang fast.  Miss B. did great and ended up with a 4th place ribbon and 34th out of 44, 6 and under girls. Her time for the 25 yard freestyle was 51.96

 Then came the backstroke race.  I was a little nervous for this one because she has never swam backstroke in a race before.  

 But as you can see, it was no problem for this 3 year old.

 She hit the lane lines a few times during the race but she stayed on her back the whole time.

 Until she hit the wall at the other end.  I couldn't believe it.

 Of course dad was there to get her out of the water after the race.

 She finished her backstroke race with a time of 136.46

 Another 4th place ribbon for this little backstroker!

Ledger did great in his freestyle race tonight.  He has a great stroke but is not super competitive and fast.  He finished his 25 yard freestyle with a time of: 31.08.  Ledger's real strength is backstroke.
  He is learning to get his arms straight and kick really fast.

 He says backstroke is his favorite stroke.  Like father like son!

Another 2nd place ribbon for this little guy.  Ledger was bummed he didn't get a medal tonight but I was super proud of him and how much he has improved already.  He placed 13th our of 40 boys.  AWESOME!
