Each day after the golf clinic I took the kids over to the rec hall to play.  It is so surreal for me to be there since Jeremy and I spent many of our summers hanging around there.  My boys had so much fun going down the zip line, swinging, doing ceramics, and playing pool and air hockey.  Case is now known as, "Little Dude" at the rec hall because he dominated at air hockey.  He would get tokens, charging them to Sugar's account, find the biggest kid at the rec hall and ask them, "Hey, wanna verse me?" Of course the big kids all said yes because he was payin'.  All the kids at the rec hall would stand around and yell, "GO little dude!" It was comical to say the least! Brody and I played pool and made clay bowls on ceramics day.  We watched the tadpoles, mice, turtles, and frogs in the critter room while rocking out to super loud teenage techno music.  It was perfect. The lightening alarms would go off and all the kids would come running inside to wait out the storm.  The rain came down hard and I felt like I was 13 again.  It felt just like it did 23 years ago when I would spend my lazy summer days up there (except that I had a 10 month old baby strapped to my chest) I love being up here!

Wet Grass and Sandtraps

Today Brody and Case played 3 holes of golf at White Mountain Country Club to finish their week long golf clinic.  It has been pouring rain here all week so to say the course was wet would be an understatement. Brody had a tough game today hitting the ball into the sand trap not once but twice.  He did a fantastic job getting his ball out and then sinking his putts.  Case had a super game simply because he WHACKS the ball like nothing you've ever seen.  Would you believe it took 2 hours to play 3 holes?  It took the boys anywhere from 8 to 13 strokes per hole.  Thanks goodness for golf carts! The weather was perfect and the boys had a blast.  Next year these boys will be ready for 6 holes and new clubs (they have both outgrown theirs) which will be fun and more challenging. Way to go golfer boys!

After the tournament, there was a sack luch and awards ceremony for the golfers.  Brody, Chase and Case loved their lunch even though they didn't win anything! Way to go boys!

Waterslides At The Hyatt

These monkeys loved the water slides.

One of the reasons we love staying at the Hyatt when we go to Huntington is because of the water slides.  It gives us another option other then just going to the beach everyday. The boys had a blast going down the slides and then jumping into the warm jacuzzi.  They loved eating nachos at the bar and ordering smoothies. We love the Hyatt At Huntington! 

Golfing In The White Mountains

After a day of being home from the beach, the boys and I hopped in the car (shortly after I taught my primary lesson) and headed up to the mountains for the White Mountain Golf Clinic.  I'm not sure there is a better way to play golf.  The cool mountain air, tall tall pine trees, and afternoon rain storms make it perfect! The boys practiced each day for an hour and then played a 3 hole tournament on Friday.  More to come on that tournament but for now, enjoy these cute pictures of my little golfers.

These 2 golfers are the best of friends.  They have waaaaay too much fun together, on the course and off!!

Lunch on the patio is so fun after an hour of golf, especially when it is raining with thunder and lightening.  McKenzie, Ryker, Kristy, Miss B., Me, Brody, Sugar, Ledger, Case, Kim and Katlyn.

Case was so excited when he saw his cousin Madden on the first day of the clinic. They have been hanging out together and playing at each others cabins! They are both 5 years old.

Ledger didn't end up golfing this year, but he will be ready next year for sure!

Huntington 2010

We just returned from a week at Huntington Beach.  It was just our little family which was nice, but it was hard!  I don't remember ever thinking our family was dysfunctional, but now I'm convinced. It's never easy going on vacation with your kids, but when they are all still so little, you wonder why you are even away from your home.  There was lots of whining about sand in places it doesn't belong, along with too much down time while we all waited for the little Miss to sleep.  The drive over was a nightmare (explosive baby diapers, screaming, crying, tantrums), but we made it and had fun once we all settled in.  We had a rough start, (I spent the first day at Hoag Hospital due to a possible cyst on my ovary rupturing, OUCH!!) but the rest of the week we did good.  The first 3 days we were there it was FREEZING cold.  Sounds good now that we've returned to 115 degrees, but a little too cold for even hanging out at the beach.  We did a day at Disneyland and a day on the beach with Nanny and Papa which was fun for the boys.  By time we left on Friday, I was more then ready to get home. Thanks goodness the drive home was better then the drive over and we arrived safely and together (at times we wanted to leave a child or two on the side of the road!!) We love Cali and the beach and look forward to next summer when we hopefully get to go again. Hopefully we will be a little less dysfunctional since we will all be 1 year older!

Many of you have asked how Berkley liked the sand.  She would just lay in it with her mouth wide open and eat it.

Nanny and Papa drove out to see us for a couple days.  Brody loved playing tic-tac-toe and Bingo on the beach with Nanny.  Case and Ledger drug Papa into the ocean all day!

What can I say? Are we the hottest girls on the beach?

Case was still a little hesitant about going in the water this year.  Waist high was about as far out as he went.

Brody, Miss B., Jeremy and Ledger digging on the beach.  This was our first day on the beach and it was beyond cold.  Jeremy had swam an open water swim at Seal Beach that morning.  He did super and loved swimming the 1 mile pier to pier swim.  The water temperature was a freezing 62 degrees.  That combined with the wind and cloud coverage would have been enough for me to skip the swim that day.  Jeremy loved it and thinks he'll do it again in the future.
